A Week on The Central Coast

I wrote the below on March 16th and it sat as a draft until now… I’m tellin ya, I want to connect but there’s something in me blocking me from consistency! Working on it, my friends…. thanks for being patient with me on this journey

A couple weeks ago my personal savior and cherished friend, Chelsea Potter, and her lovely spouse, Stephen, had a baby shower to celebrate their baby that we are all so excited to welcome into this world soon!

They live down on the Central Coast of CA, which where Andrew was born and raised and where Gavin was raised until we moved here in 2018. Andrew and Stephen are best friends since grade school!

I work remote, so I figured I might as well head down the weekend before and spend the week with my mother-in-love, Dana, and grab some extra time with Chelsea & Stephen. Andrew is in the midst of tax season and not fully remote yet, so he couldn’t go. Gavin had school all week, so he couldn’t go either.

I’m so glad I got took the opportunity!

Dana was having a new bathtub installed that week. It’s one of those rad old-people tubs that has the door so you can step in and sit down in the chair, with lights, bluetooth speaker, heated seat and foot pad, and all sorts of jets! It was a lot having those guys in the house all day and they didn’t finish until 9pm. I don’t know how they would expect an older person to remember the tutorial they give so late at night… I sure am glad I was there to support Dana.

And she’s just so rad! Her and I vibe hella well. I feel so lucky to have such a special relationship with my in-law.

I got to spend a few evenings visiting with Stephen and Chelsea. I simply do not have words for how comforting it is to be around such genuine people that I trust so intimately. I adore the two of them and can’t wait to see what parenthood looks like on them!

I got to cook some super yummy curried lentils for them one night, Stephen made smoked salmon sushi bowls another night, and then after the baby shower a few of us gathered at their house with some local pizza. You know I gotta have delicious food accompanying delicious company!

I left with a heart filled to the brim and cheeks sore from all the smiles and laughter.

I have an ever-growing root in gratitude and it’s only compounded when I feel so free to enjoy life with those I adore.

Let your cup be filled, my friends. I don’t know why I keep myself from that sometimes.
